Glimpsing Jung in the Louisiana Marsh:
From the Mother Complex to the Great Mother

April 22, Saturday Lecture 7:30 pm
members: free; non-members $20; students $10

We are all informed by stories. Our brain is designed to think in metaphor and to remember in story. Revisiting and re-membering ancestral, familial, and personal stories presents us with the opportunity to explore and expand our understanding of the archetypal patterns that inform our adulthood.

This talk will feature memoir-type vignettes and images from the Cajun country of Southwest Louisiana. Dr. Jung’s concepts of the Mother Complex, the Shadow and the Great Mother will provide the lens for exploring and enlivening the stories. The presentation will demonstrate how past personal experiences, however dark, can be transformed from fixed past memories to enriched vitality in the present. The talk will also feature relevant research from the fields of neuroscience and complexity.

Frank MeauxFrancois (Frank) L. Meaux, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, is a native of south Louisiana.
