“The body is the vessel in which the transformation process takes place”
—James Hillman

What does it mean to live a vital, embodied life in our modern world, which is so devoted to power, speed, technological advancement and materialism? How can we rediscover the sacredness of our bodies and the Eros in everyday life, given the numbing of the flesh and the continuing destruction of our planet, earth’s body? This talk will explore some of the ways we leave our bodies, and how we may return home to them. Once home, we can foster a feeling of safety, resilience, and ease, and enjoy an open connection between body, psyche, and spirit.

Various forms of embodied active imagination facilitate this descent into the inner world of the psyche through natural movement and creative arts. Through the process, we may reconnect with deeper instinctual resources and spiritual intelligence which live within us on a molecular level. This allows us to recover unlived intra-, inter-, and trans-personal parts of ourselves. Drawing on embodied wisdom as a guiding compass, we can respond to and live closer to our Soul’s Call.

Dreams, the Body, and the Dance of Three

"The symbols of the self arise in the depths of the body" —C.G. Jung

Our bodies and dreams may be our closest links to the unconscious, expressing the soul’s longing through image, breath, gesture, the rhythm of our step, and the music of our speech. Movement that emerges from a genuine source within us, when made conscious and integrated into lived experience, is by its very nature transformative.

Dreamdancing®, developed by Dr. Tina Stromsted in the 1980s, integrates verbal dream sharing with embodied methods which may include Authentic Movement, structured movement explorations, somatic awareness, vocal work, drawing and writing. Please bring a dream that resonates with you for the morning session. We will engage the energies, feelings and action of the dream to help bring the dream’s message to consciousness.

In the afternoon you are invited to explore “The Dance of Three,” a further application of Authentic Movement developed by Jungian analyst, Marion Woodman and her team. This approach involves a primary mover, an engaged responder, and a reflective witness. Each will have an opportunity to move, witness, contain, and reflect on embodied experience. Inner listening combined with outer engagement can enhance your ability to be present with yourself and others in an increasingly conscious relationship, inviting a level of perception that can evoke deep respect and empathy.
